Healthcare Responsibility
(05/14/2010)

For years American’s have been duped into paying high health insurance premiums for benefits that are overstated.

We hear American’s complain that they can’t afford high health insurance premiums. Then in the same breath they complain about the high cost of seeing a doctor. When you ask them how much it costs to see their doctor they respond,” $20.00”???
If you can’t afford the cost of gas, you can’t afford the price of the vehicle!

America’s problem is simple; they don’t understand how health insurance is supposed to work. They expect to see the doctor for free??? They expect the insurance company to charge small premiums???

Quality Healthcare is expensive, especially when we have the greatest services available in the world.

Understanding how often we see a physician is also a key in saving insurance premiums. The average person my see his or her physician three and half times per year. Only four percent of the population hit their annual deductibles and catastrophic limits annually.

So why would we want to pay $300.00, $350.00, $400.00 or even $450.00 per month for individual coverage with a co-payment of $15.00 or $20.00???

Why would someone say they cannot afford a $500.00 or $1000.00 annual deductible????

If you look into purchasing plans with co-payments of $35.00 or even $50.00 and annual deductibles of $1000.00 or even $1500.00 you might be surprised by the savings.

The premiums for the higher co-pay and higher deductible plans might reduce premiums to $260.00 or even $225.00 per month.

Wouldn’t it make sense for us to seek out this type of savings??? Just using the co-payment difference and using the higher cost for the cheaper alternative and compare it to the $350.00 premium rate. Let’s increase the national average of annual doctor visits to six instead of three and half.

Why then would someone pay $90.00 more per month or $1080.00 per year to see a doctor for $25.00, when they could save this money and pay the doctor $50.00 per visit?

Using this example you would pay $150.00 more per year to see your physician. But you would also save $930.00 for the year.

Have you been a responsible buyer of healthcare lately???
