MICHIGAN: Priority Health and the Physicians Health Plan of Mid-Michigan, both non-profit insurers and subsidiaries of large hospital systems, have applied to sell coverage to new Patient Protection and Affordable Choices Act (PPACA) high-risk pool enrollees who have been uninsured for a period of six months. The Office of Financial and Insurance Regulation is expected to make a final decision imminently. Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan, the state's insurer of last resort. will continue to accept all applicants per state law in the two policies it offers the uninsured in exchange for state tax breaks.
